About Us

We are consumers, providers, professionals, and stakeholders that believe people can and do recover from mental illness and substance use disorders. We believe in community participation and advocacy and instilling hope and resiliency in all people through recovery, to provide hope and change to all those affected by behavioral health in the Allegheny County.

The Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery has been working since 2001 to increase the Public’s recognition that people can and frequently do recover from serious mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The Coalition sponsors a variety of events designed to reach out to the general public, users of behavioral health services, and providers of those services, with information and resources related to the recovery process.

The Coalition has been a driving force in the transformation of behavioral health services in this county to a form that will provide hope and meaning to disrupted lives and will promote engagement in collaborative treatment programs, community living, meaningful relationships, productive activities and independent decision making.

Our Vision

Every Allegheny County resident with a mental health and/or substance use disorder is supported in his/her recovery journey by friends, families, communities and service providers who understand and practice recovery principles.

Our Mission

The mission of ACCR is to increase awareness of behavioral health recovery and to promote the use of recovery principles and practices in behavioral health services in Allegheny County.
