Child & Family

The Child and Family Committee works to encourage service systems and professionals to assist children, adolescents, and families to build on their strengths and develop skills and knowledge to cope effectively with stress and adversity (resiliency) so they can live, play, and work in their communities (recovery). The Committee also develop best practice guidelines for agencies serving children and families. It has developed the Resiliency and Recovery Brochure, Resiliency/Recovery CrosswalkGuidelines for Developing Resiliency for Children and Families, and Resilient Kids & Families documents. In 2018, the Child and Family Committee also had the opportunity to partner with Project Launch, a collaborative that promotes wellness in children. After working together for several months, the groups created these great resources. The posters have been displayed in UPMC pediatric facilities, family support centers, and wellness centers in public housing buildings across Allegheny County. The poster and corresponding packet were designed to promote mental health alongside physical health for resiliency and wellness in children and families.
