ACCR Membership Recognition Event 2016
Saturday, September 24, 2016 was a night of celebration, recognition, and hope at this year’s ACCR Membership Recognition Event. Guests enjoyed relaxing music by Ross Antonich & Gavin Horning and appetizers in the foyer before sitting down for the presentation and a candlelight dinner from Harvest Planning.
The evening began with a welcome by emcee Jordan Pearlman and opening remarks from Steering Committee Co-Chair Paul Barkowitz.

Debra Liberto shared with us her moving personal story of recovery and many in the audience were in tears. She spoke of the tremendous impact her support system and faith had in her journey and the gracious attitude for her struggle, as it made her who she is today. Her message of hope, self-determination, and courage were a great reminder that people can and do recover from mental illness and substance use disorders and live healthy, fulfilling lives.

After Debra’s presentation, awards were given to individuals that have made significant contributions to ACCR in the past year for their commitment to the mission and values, their communities, and their peers. Rising Star Award Winners were Chris Dombrowski and Nicole Campbell. Gladys Jones received the Inspiring Others award. Dexter Owens and Julie Trbovich were commended with the Visionary Award. Donna Murrell was noted for her efforts with the Appreciation Award. Recovery Champions of 2016 were Richard Wilson and Sam Barkowitz. Finally, Chris Shepherd was given the Chair-Person’s Award for his work with the Quality Improvement committee. Some of those recognized are pictured here.
Everyone that attended had an enjoyable evening, filled with laughter, joy, and gratitude and left with full stomachs and new friendships. Here’s some more wonderful memories:
