The Pittsburgh Promise created this fund specifically to make sure that students don’t get derailed from their current educational track due to the pandemic. This money is separate from the Promise scholarship. It can be used for things like:

  • food insecurity,
  • mental health co-pays,
  • dorm deposits,
  • dorm furnishings,
  • financial support to pursue college if parent was laid off,
  • and more.

Funds are being provided immediately for urgent needs, including food (grocery store gift cards) and mental health co-pays.

Students can apply for the fund using the link above. The link also includes contact information for 3 outreach workers specifically dedicated to connecting students with this resource.

In addition, the Promise will give students in the Class of 2020 a fifth year of eligibility for the scholarship in case they are not ready to begin their post-secondary education this fall.
